Enchanting Lace

There is nothing about my life, my style, or my personality that is dainty, or pretty, or elegant. But, ya'all, I do love some fancy lace socks. They seem perfect for welcoming spring, don't you think?

This pattern is Eurydice (link to Tricot Leloup website). The pattern is free on that site and written in French and English. I only used the most basic parts of the instructions, and the chart, so I can't verify how accurate the English portion of the pattern is. There is a small mistake in the chart key (the = should be slip one, knit two together, pass slip stitch over), but if you have experience knitting lace, you'll realize that's a double decrease when you get to it.

I really like the center part of the lace - and it is all lace, no cables. Just increases and decreases.

I dyed the yarn a soft petal pink to match the spring vibes. The pattern was published in 2020 and there are only 6 projects on Ravelry, so it's underappreciated for sure! The lace makes the sock fit very stretchy. The back of the sock is stockinette, so I would consider decreasing 2-4 stitches from your standard sock. Alternatively, a few columns of ribbing down the back would add more forgiveness to your fit.

I'm working on some mosaic socks with a stripe and a solid right now, and my next pair will be Goldenrod from 52 Weeks of Socks, vol 2. I dyed this yarn for it and am very excited to cast on.

I know we're heading into spring, but my heart will always be in late autumn!!

There is goat news! Three new baby goats are roaming our pasture. They are, naturally, exceedingly cute. This is Edward R. Oreo, with Guapo (one of the 2023 Thanksgiving Week goats) for scale.

And here is Curly - a tiny bug with mud on his nose (just to drive home the point about things here not being dainty).

New goats means a slight disruption to the family groupings in the barn. Around here, at least, the baby goats hang out with their mamas for a very long time, and they all sleep in family groups. Oreo and his sister, CC (Cookies and Cream) were born to Peaches and have displaced her previous twins, who no longer snuggle up with mom at night. They are now sleeping with their big brother - who they themselves displaced last summer.

Ginger, however, is still chilling with her year-old quadruplets. They hang together day and night.

It is very cute.

Happy spring, knitters!
