Goldenrod
You know when you are excited about a project that makes your heart sing because you have the perfect yarn, and the pattern is just the right complexity and the finished object is exactly as you hoped??
And birds sing under a rainbow when you've finished it?
The pattern is Goldenrod from 52 Weeks of Socks, vol 2 (Laine website). It is the pattern on the cover of the book, and I love it! I dyed the yarn just for it, and I love it too.
The pattern makes use of liberal SKYP (slip, knit, yarn over, pass slipped stitch over both), with just a little bit of lace. It is meant to resemble hay bales in the late summer.
I love the book, but the pattern is also available on Ravelry as an individual download.
Pattern G is complete!
Here are some cruddy photos of my original 3ply2ways socks. They were knit in February, 2016.
They are made from handspun Targhee, dyed by Into the Whirled. (How great is Targhee??) The foot and leg look great after nine years, even though they are made from non-superwash wool and have no nylon.
The heels, however, have been worn through a few times. No matter! I just darn those suckers up and have cuter, stronger socks with each repair.
Happy sock knitting, wearing, and repairing friends!
