Bill designed this yarn to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1995 Blowdown in the Five Ponds Wilderness Area in NY - a backpacking adventure he will never forget. (more below!) This yarn has thick and thin stripes of White Pine (green), Oswegatchie River (rusty red), Storm Clouds, DEC helicopter (blue and yellow), and Gentle Clouds.
25g minis are available with the default color being Oswegatchie River (rusty red). Other colors are available upon request. Just a leave a note in your cart with which color you'd like. Please use this listing to add dye-to-order 25g skeins.
Would you like your yarn cranked into a sock tube so you just have to add heels, toes and cuffs? Check out information on our cranking service!
In July of 1995 Bill was backpacking in the Adirondack mountains of NY with his father and cousin. Very early on the second morning of their adventure a strong storm blew through, flattening miles of enormous 100 year old white pine trees. Bill was protected by a lean-to made of the same trees. After 14 hours of scrambling over and under downed logs on the now lost trail, and sleeping an uncomfortable night with 3 large men in the only small tent that wasn't destroyed in the storm, Bill and his family were rescued by a Dept of Environmental Conservation (DEC) fish-stocking helicopter.

Yarn is dyed and heat set with professional acid dyes. All effort is made to exhaust the dyes, but some color bleeding may occur on initial washings. Cold water is recommended. Multiple skeins are available under this listing and, due to the nature of hand dying, colors may vary slightly from the yarn pictured.
